What a day for a race!!! I went to bed after 12 last night not good if you are racing the next day. I slept until about 7:30 which was good and more sleep than I normally get.
Believing the race started at nine I left my house at 8:30 got there at 8:35 ...Nice...I was going to warm up by running over there but since I might have a chance to get to church after the race I drove.
I thought it was unusual that every one was outside the building when I got there. I then learned that the race did not start until 10:00 I was really upset and blamed myself. I could have went to the early service at 8:30 this morning, and I've never been to a race a whole hour early.
Well I used the time wisely, warmed up for 2.5 miles which I've never done before. Then I sat in my car for about 15mins. I got out of the car at 9:50 and stretched a bit.
The race was not my best 10k but it went well. I went out too fast. My first mile was 7:29 my second was 7:56. I calm down a bit the next miles I averaged 8:15 to 9:30(because of the huge hill about .75 miles to the end of the race:(
After the race I did another 6.28 miles . I felt good and wanted to get a semi long run in.
January 8th 2006

Good job and wow, a run after as well, way to go.
Starting out too fast is usually my problem. I get caught up with the crowd too easily.
