My 5.5 miler today

Something strange happen this morning. Sometimes when I'm running my hardest to pick up the pace and I look down on my Garmin, I know sometimes it takes a little time to register the pace, but when I look down I'm going my slowest. Then there are the times that I look, when I'm going or I believe I'm going at a very easy pace and I see 7.30 to 8.45 and when I realize this I try to keep it going because I'm liking what I see. When the mile split do finally register though its anywhere between 9.-10 so I'm not holding the pace very long.

But the weirdest s thing happened this morning on my 5.5 mile run. My 4th mile split registered at 7:38 actually the split was 1.17 miles for 6:32 pace . I'm still thinking about it and wondering how it happen. I know at one point all I was thinking about was getting home by a certain time. I really wouldn't want to run fast all the time during my training runs but it sure would be worth it to get my pace back averaging 9 mins miles on my training runs. I'm working on it and have been since last week. I'm slowly getting back there. And when I finally stopped the timer and reset the run my average pace was 10:12 for the 5.5 miles.

Congratulations on another half-marathon. And then you run 14+ miles a couple days later, that's awesome. Keep up the running and don't let Garmin fool you. It is nice to finish up faster than you start and after you are properly warmed up as well.

Hi Dawn .... don't get too focused on the Garmin .. run what you feel. I think you are capable of running faster than you are. Start working a nice tempo run into your weekly schedule. I think you'll be suprised at how fast you really are.
