I did the Stratton Faxon Greator Danbury Half today. I've done it 2 times before. Very hilly. Today was a great day for the race. Started at 50 ended about 62. I got to to race just in time to get my bib and get to the start line. I thought the half started at 10:30 but it was schedule to start at 10:20 the 5k started at 10:30 I'm not sure how I got it mixed up. When I g0t my bid and chip I had 6 minutes to to get to the start line. There was no time for me to even pick up my T shirt because I wouldn't have had time to get to my car. I was park somewhere else other than the parking lot as it close to parking at 9:45. I had a rough time out there. My race times started declining in 2007 I thought that was my worst race year then 2008 proved me wrong. Now 2009 is even worst. I'm worst than ever, I'm not even doing times I did when I first started racing. I can't even explain what is going on. Determination will get me through this, I will never let my passion go, I'm a lifer. This too shall pass.
oh I forgot: 2:06, 2:08 and today 2:18 somthihg? lordy lordy something is happening to me.

and you didn't have any wind? it was soooooo windy overhere! I have had two years of bad racing times and then somehow for no reason at all, my times have gotten better. Keep the passion, and like I said in my post today, don't let it become a chore that you dread.

I started to write maybe this is what I'm going through now.. the challenge is getting through this phase...thats where I stop I just could not find anything to follow. It means alot to me the way you responded today. thank you.

Dawn,
As I have said before- you are an inspiration to all of us because you are out there. I know you will never give up and this "plateau" will pass and you will be stronger and faster again.

Run for the love of running. It takes a lot to keep running in a race when you aren't into it. I think you are doing a great job.

Wonderful temperatures for a pleasant race.
Congratulations on getting to the start in time.
You are a runner. Your experience and your spirit will energize your running.

Wind can make a HUGE difference in time. You lose more going into the wind then you pick up with it to your back. It destroyed my 5K time by over a minute last week - so 13.1 miles... there is your time issue.

Dawn, you'll get through this. Just don't stop running. And don't forget to just enjoy it. It's a blessing, no matter how fast or slow you go.

Your 2009 sounds a lot like my 2008 was. Just stay positive and try some different things with your running. I came out of it this year and I'm feeling great. I'm sure you will get there too.

I still wonder if you need a little time to step back from it. I don't mean to stop running, but to reduce the miles and reduce the races and then come back strong. Your body or mind might just need a little rest and rebooting. Hang in there!

p.s. don't be so hard on yourself with your times --I know it is discouraging but they will come back down. You are out racing and that is an inspiration:)
