Started back on the road last Thursday the runs are short but I'm getting out there. I felt good my first day back with a very easy 4.17 miles, Friday another easy 5.54 on Saturday I did not get out and I can't remember why. Sunday I went out for a three mile warm before I headed to the 5 mile Bush Whack run in Greenwich. I some how got side tracked and did not get to the race so I went to church instead.

Monday I went out early enough to put in at least 8 miles. About half way through my run I fell I guess I was due for one. There was an older woman with her dog coming towards me, for reasons unknown my full concentration was on this woman and her dog and how I was going to get around this. Before I knew was was happening down I went, my pinkie and ring finger still hurts. I felt my chin scrape against the side walk, I also banged up one of my knees. This poor old lady was so apologetic, and kept blaming herself I told her not to worry and I was ok.

This time it took a full 10 minutes for me to walk it off. Usually when I fall I get right back up and start running, must have been the the chin hitting the concrete. I should have realized how bad it was because of the beads of blood frozen on my shirt.

I managed to get home with less than enough time to get to work on time. So I sent an email to let them know I'm running late. When I finally got a chance to look in the mirror there was a big frozen blood bubble on my chin, now I know why those two guys kept staring at me when I passed them.

the day was interesting, I thought I only had a scrape, I cleaned it up pretty well and went to work. Sat at my desk and before I knew it someone walk by and said I was bleeding. I spent most of the day trying to control it. Finally someone went out and got these huge band aides I didn't have to worry about dripping anymore. I'm glad to say I'm feeling much better today. Still a little stiff but feeling better. I went to the Y tonight and had a pretty good workout.

Happy running

Crikey, looks like you had a good bit more than a scrape! I hope you really are better now.

Wow, glad to hear you're all right after that fall. I love the image of you, bloodstained and bruised, still finishing your run strong. :)

Ouch! I'm glad to hear you are feeling better though. I guess this brings new meaning to 'keep you chin up.' ;-)

Wow, what a day. Glad to hear you putting the miles in again. Welcome back. You wouldnt believe the fall you just explained, was the fall I came very close to avoiding. It was like I felt my chin hitting the groung right before my fall was broken. Glad to hear you are now ok.

I'm sorry to hear about your fall. I hope that you are feeling better.

I'm a little slow with getting back into my routine. I only ran 2 days last week and will probably only run 2 days this week. I'm hoping that my body will reward me for the time off by coming back strong next week.

dawn ---so sorry that you fell! But it happens to everyone --you might have tripped in the Bushwhack:)
At least you are out running strong again, with 8 miles (fall included) and gym time.

just how often do you fall??? I have fallen too, not pretty and painful. The way you described the fall was great..I felt like I was falling just reading it.

Sorry to hear about the fall. You take care of that body as it sounds like you are starting to get the mileage back up.

Yikes, Dawn! I hope all is well now. Take care of that chin and good luck at the next marathon. I think you have one coming up. I see your name on the Maniac site.

Hi Dawn,

First off, great blog. I have been checking-in on Life on the Run over the last few weeks and thought now may be a good time to reach out. You are doing an excellent job of creating community and interest with your writing.

My name is Ryan and I'd like to know if you'd be interested in trying-out and reviewing (on your site/blog) an innovative new laundry solution for activewear clothing - ProWash activewear detergent.

As you may already know, most athletic clothing these days is designed to retain sweat and maintain a dry feel to the skin, enhancing athletic performance and experience. However, when these same clothes are washed after a workout, ordinary laundry detergents are unable to remove the odors and bacteria, leaving them stuck in the nooks and crannies of high performance fabric. Fortunately, the creators of Dry Cleaner's Secret have engineered an innovative solution: ProWash. Now, consumers have a product they can trust to quickly and easily clean and eliminate odors, bacteria and stains from activewear clothing.

Do you think you would be interested in trying it out and posting a review about it on your site/blog? If so, all I need is your name and mailing address and I'll mail you a full-sized container of ProWash to experience for yourself.

Thank you for your kind consideration and I look forward to hearing from you. Keep up the great work with your site/blog!

Warm regards,

Ryan
