Today I did the last race of the Norwalk Summer Series, Sam Elpern Half Marathon. The race was rescheduled to today because of the pending storm last week.

I got to the race site at about 6:40 because I was helping out with registration. I must say registration went well, I was a little skeptic at first. We had a box with preregistered and fully paid bibs, A-J box and K-Z box, these were the people that had ran one of the races but did not preregister but a bib was there for them. The table with blank applications also contain a list with names and bib numbers which would make the process much easier when they come to us.
I tell you the best way to put faces with names is to help out with registration. I've help out a few times and sometimes you get that ah ha moment.

I felt a little sluggish at first, mostly because I did not go to bed as early as I should have. The humidity was there, I felt earlier when I help Don carry water bottles over to the water stand across from the school, but fortunately we did not have the sun beating down at us and it was a tad bit better than last Saturday. The race went well a double loop with a hill at miles 5 and 11 yes the same hill, this is where I saw Emmy, Frank, and Gail, at the water stop. I run the area on most of my training runs . This, of course is my first half (2002) & PR Half (2003) and I've been steadily going down hill time wise ever since. I'm trying my best not to dwell on the past and move on.

2008-2:07:19 series overall 40-49 4th
2007-2:08:08 Series overall 40-49 3rd
2006-2:04:26 Series overall
2005-1:59:28 Series Overall 40-49 3rd
2004-2:00:48 seroes Overall 30-2nd
2003-1:51:28 my PR in the half / series overall 30-39 1st place
2002-2:05:47 my first half

I received a little trophy for running all the races in the series, 3,5,7,9,11 &13.1

I felt great after New Haven 20K Last week today I felt good so this is a good sign that things will get better.

Thank you Don for allowing me to help today and best of luck to you and Emmy at the Queens half tomorrow!!

Nice job on the 1/2. And it's always good to volunteer, giving back. Now, just a few more posts, and I can stop staring at your sister and Alicia Marie. But knowing me, I'll click on "older posts" when you push their pics to the next page.
