The More Marathon 4/6/08. I was not verry lucky in getting enough sleep again tonight. I was with my mom again until I took her back to the Care Center Saturday night. I did not get to bed again until about 1:30 AM and the alarm went off at 5:10 I stayed in bed until about 6:00 and did not leave the house until 6:40, I got to Central Park at about 7:35 found parking and headed to the start of the race.

This is my 5th More Marathon and 18th marathon to date. There were over 6000 women again this year but only about 150 ran the marathon. they started all of us, the half, the walkers and marathon at the same time. I believe it took me almost 4 mins to get to the start mat.

The race went a little better than expected with my lack of training I managed to pull off a 4:29 with quite a few stops. I was expecting 5 to 5:05. The course contained a few rolling hills. We do two full loop of Central Park then 3 loop of a 4 mile course. They weather was OK not great because of winds.
I was lucky to catch up with 4:20 pacers or they caught me at around the the the half after we had broken away from the the half marathoners. I was with them for about 1 loop of the 4 mile course. I finally let them go because the were going too fast. There were 3 of them and there was only me and another woman with them. At the end of the 2nd loop I caught up with the women that was with them, she was walking. I kept going, at mile 24 I pass one of the pacers and she was walking as well. Towards the end I was running behind a woman that started to do skips over the orange cones. I thought how could she. Shortly after I saw her walking and running . I think those skips took a wee bit out of her.

I believe it was the sheer energy of the women running and walking that got me through this one.

I left the race immediately, was stuck in traffic, and went directly to the Care Center to get my mom because she was having dinner with us. I was thankful that Hubby was home today and prepared dinner. He did a wonderful job. Everyone enjoyed dinner. It is now 12:56 AM and I am still at the computer. I might as well go ahead and add the links.

Have a great running week every one. I'm sure I'll have to edit this its 1:32AM

Broke 4:30 in the marathon, good job! Way to race it the whole way through. The steady pace wins the race, I always say.
