All the hope I had going into the New Year is shot. Nothing seems to be going right. Not enough training, my first 3 races have been very disappointing but I will continue the journey, maybe this was not meant to be my year!!

Dawn u raced in little training that is what happens...Where is my Positive Dawn at?? Get back to ur posting and ur race re-caps... I hope u know and I know u do...that U do what 99% of America doesn't...most just sit on their ass watching the Tube.

Why don't u do less races this year and focus on a few ...just a thought but might re-engage more focus on trainings.

Why don't u do a 50 miler?

that will be a change huh and NO DOUBT in my mind you can do it, and it will be a new and different type of race to train for...change is good right Dawn, OK let me go just throwing out some ideas :-)

and lastly WELCOME BACK and please keep in touch with us fellow bloggers...OK? ...OK!!

Hi Dawn, things will get better. They're bound to. Just don't lose sight of what's over this hump.

Thanks for leaving such encouraging words yesterday. I quoted you in my blog entry today. I was so touched and inspired by what you said. Thanks!

It is WAY too early for your year to be shot. Your January, maybe, but not the year. Start focusing on February. Take a moment, relax and shake off whatever is not going your way. You are a very positive, determined, tough cookie. Trust it. Remember we all learn someting good and/or important with setbacks. Whatever it is, it will probably be something that makes your year even better, not worse :)
Hang in there. You have a HUGE cheering section of people you inspire on your worst days, let alone your best. :)

Dawn - It's a little early to be making predictions for the year. Re-evalute your plan and your goals and maybe mix things up a bit. Go read a few lines of Bingham if you need to, he always snaps me right back to it. Remember why you love to run and put that it in front of you all the time.

We're all here for you.

It's only been three weeks into 2008--you've got to wait until at least May or June or so before you decide about the whole year. :) I'm sure things will get better. I know your training runs have gotten faster. Once your body gets used to it the race times will follow!

Dawn

It is awful early for you to be getting down on yourself.. '08 is just beginning. You know that running, like anything else, has its ups and downs. Hang in there and don't ever forget tomorrow is another day.

Best of luck and sending you positive vibes from Michigan:-)

One day at a time, you will conquer this just as you conquered so many things last year!

Dawn,
Do not give up. You are the inspiration for many. Try something new in your training. i.e cut back on mileage (I seem to remember you are a high mileage runner) maybe do some speed work one day a week instead, and rest one day. If you normally run on the day before a race, take that as your rest day. I started to do that and found it improved my times. You could also choose a race for the spring and use a training program such as Hal Higdon (Yep, that would keep your mileage down!)You might be pleasantly surprised. Maybe your body just wants a change, so don't get discouraged. You are amazing, no matter what.
