Last year this time I'd ran three Marathons I normally run 2 spring marathon More and Long Island. Last year I added the New Jersey Shore relay Marathon Last year was the first year they let individual runners run the the whole distance.

Not so this year. I was planning on sticking with my usual two More and Long Island. I still was not sure I would even do a Spring marathon I was undecided until yesterday. I was also considering doing something totally different, Race of Champions Marathon in West. Springfield, MA only a few miles from where my Son attends college in Westfield. I was having a tough time deciding to do one at all as last year the four marathons I did was without any real training. I guess I was lucky to have miss the start of Hartford last year because I think that is what save me from totally bombing out at NYC . I did not want to start the year off again doing marathons that I haven't really put in any training for. I knew well, that I should have put off Long Island, More was not my option not to run as registration closed, but there was no way I wasn't going to do at least one spring marathon, just had to get it out of my system. I went and register for Long Island on late Saturday and Ran it today. I decided to stick with what was familiar, it was tough out there but I got it done like I usually do ,not totally disappointed because I thought I would do worst just like I thought with NYC.

I going to listen to Miranda who qualify for Boston this year. She focus more on longer runs to build aerobic capacity she knew she already had the speed. I 'm going to focus on getting my times back to where it was or better. I do see myself doing a(3:59 may be), 4:00 hour marathon as that is what I need to BQ. My best time for the marathon was a 4:12, I've done 4:15 to 4:18 over the years and most recently in 2007. So I need to focus on shorter faster runs as I already know I can do the distance. Will I be able to do that every ones knows how I like to pack the miles :)

Unofficial time of 4:38:34

Happy running

Very well done. Decide to run a marathon yesterday, and today run around 4:38. BQ time with training seems like it can be done.

Nice job on the marathon finish! It sounds like you have a really good plan for your training. Glad to hear you talking training again.

Nice time, Dawn. Running a marathon without training is the economical way, it's four and a half hours of increasing misery but then it's totally done and think of all those interminable hours of training you didn't have to do!

Great decision and very good job. Congrats.
Well, you run 3 marathons every year and I have run 3 marathons in all my life!
3, the perfect number.

Congratulations! Sounds like it was a great last minute decision. Some times it's good to go with what you know. :o)

Dawn ---great job! So this was your 6th LI finish, and it was a familiar course.
With the rainy weather, it's probably better that you stuck with the race your knew (although I have looked into that Holyoke marathon and it sounds interesting -hilly and challenging!). To run 4;38 with no marathons under your belt so far this year was just fine. Thankfully you did not PAY for the More, as they cancelled it. With the faster shorter running you can bring your time down for a bq. I did look for you at the turn around but it was hard to see through the trees.
Glad you ran!!!!

Hi Dawn

Excellent time!

I think your strategy of doing short, fast runs will serve you well. You have done more than your share of long runs. The speedwork will make you faster.
