Today I ran the Norwalk Summer Series 11 miler. The mid point about 5.5 mile into the race is the start of the race, I wanted to quit get in my car and go!!. I got to mile six and I still wanted to turn around, it took all I got to keep going. Man it was a great morning for a race. I'm just losing it, it really took all I got to finish and finish I did.

Have a great day everyone, taking the boys to a pre season Jets game!!

Nice job on finishing. You've got the mental part down, now to figure out the physical.
A lot of people will be watching that game, since it's Bret's first start.

sounds like the way I felt when I did Vermont! Don't spend too much energy on analyzing how you feel now. Ride the wave and it will soon pass. Leave the watch home and run for fun a few days, it will come back to you.

We have all had those days. Even a race I ran a couple months ago where I kicked butt, I was thinking how bad I wanted to drop out, then I realized it was going to be just as far to walk back as it would to finish the damn thing. We all do that every once in a while, even on our best days.

chances are it was just the day and the feeling is transitory, you will always be a runner! Good for you for pushing through to the finish!

We all have those days, but you stuck it out; as long as you did not get injured. Every race is a learning experience. We learn more from the tough ones than we do the easy ones.

Glad that you could grind it out. Sometimes that's what we have to do. You may feel like crap but it will make you tougher.

Possible that you've gotten into a rut? Try changing up your routine, your running partners. Sometimes I find it helpful to skip a run or two and just cross train or eat ice cream!

thanks for the well wishes!

Hey, at least you hung in there. As it gets cooler, you'll get stronger....

Never run an 11-miler!

Jets--my parents used to have season tickets to the Joe nameth Jets at Shea. The Mets controlled the stadium and so made them be on the road all those beautiful October Sundays and play their home games in December. My boyhood was a endless search for warm gadgets, battery-operated socks, handwarmers, down vests etc. but I did see OJ Simpson break 2,000 yards for the first time--except that I was huddled under a blanket while it snowed when he made his last carry over 2,000 yards at frigid Shea!

Dawn ---that feeling was me at the Saturday NYRRC 5 miler --my legs were dead tired and I just couldn't move -it was a nightmare. I was walking.
So, I have had that feeling and jst get over it and keep on going -as runners we have good and bad days. It was a gorgeous morning and just be happy that you finished in fine shape! That 11 miler is one tough course!

I am still here!  Ended 2021 strong.  Felt good and was back in the best shape I've been in a while . Went back to the office June of ...
