since my last post I ran the rest of the week. Saturday I went to the gym and did five miles on the treadmill, I did some heavy lifting which I know I should not have because I was planning on running the The Boston Blowout 30K I have miss this race the last couple of years because it conflicted with the More Marathon. I was lucky this year that they are a week apart, More is next Sunday. I really needed this to see if I could pull off the marathon this weekend. I made the 18.6 miles just under 10 mins miles. This gives me hope. Results have posted my final 3:05:15 not bad for feeling lousy. My best time on this course is 2:47 last time I did the course was 2:57 in the October 07

Later that afternoon I did The Spring Equinox 8k it was tough but I got it done in 9:20 miles. I felt great the first mile because it was a gradual down hill and not too much work but within a mile and a half we we were gradually climbing a hill for at least 1 mile. After that it was easy running. I did not push it I don't think I could have even if I'd wanted to . So all in all I did about 23.46 so I'm feeling pretty hopeful for Sunday. Results have posted 47: again not my best not my worst, but I'll take it after a 30K.

I had a fun day and felt like my old self again. Today I took it easy, went to the gym did the elliptical for 20 mins and some upper body weight. I don't think I can overdo it this week even if I were to try.

My word, girl. I guess we know how you feel about 2 and 3 week tapers. You are amazing. Hope you can rest this week before the marathon. GREAT RACES!!

Holy cow, you make me feel like such a pansy! I guess this is good for me to read a few hours before a really hard workout - I'll keep your tough spirit in mind. Why didn't you slap me silly when I was worried to death about my 8K. Just say - "what is your problem?? 8Ks are cool down races after a half!".

YOU INSPIRE. Good job and glad you are able to get back on track with your workouts, I know that can be tough when you miss, but sometimes the body just needs a few days to catch it's breath - especially when you beat it as hard as you do!!

Good luck in your upcoming races!!

Two well run races in one day, most impressive.

Hi Dawn

I am always amazed at the sheer number of races you do. I think from a mental standpoint I get so nervous that so many races would give me a nervous breakdown.

A 30K race, then an 8K race in one day? Couldn't you find a li'l ol' 5K race also so you could do a chopped up marathon-plus in one day (42K). Way to go, I like it!
