Well I spent my morning doing what I like to do best. I did the Nowalk Mothers day 10k. Today was the 30th anniversary of the race. Today was a wonderful day for a race. Results have not posted yet but I believe I did the exact time as last year of 54:20 so I did a little better than my last 10K. My best time for this event was 51:30 also my PR 10K back in 2003 this is my 5th year doing the race.
I had a new experience today, my first time volunteering at a race. When I had register a few weeks ago I emailed the race director Don and ask (begged) him to let me help, before the race or after because I'm such a race addicted I don't think I could give up a race now to do one of the water stops. I was glad when he told me that I could and I would be writing the race numbers down as we hand them out. They do this to know exactly how many people are on the course. I got there a wee bit early at 6:30AM so I had to wait. But once we got going it was very busy. We could have use some more help. I pitched in when I could in handing out the tee shirts. I had to keep track of the race day numbers and the preregistered numbers, man am I happy I had coffee this morning before I left the house.
I had to rush to the start line I ate my cliff bloks on my down and forgot to pin my race bib on. I did not notice it was missing until the last mile of the race. I had left it under the sheets on the clipboard. I was happy when I was coming in towards the end of the race, Monica one of the woman that was helping with race day registrations brought it with her when she was directing people to the finish line!! my day was save!!!
This is one of the nicest 10k course I do. Very flat for the first 2-3miles. We start at the beach and move down to historic So. Nowalk, then uptown Nowalk the only hill worth mentioning is the one at about mile four. Well I'll have more to update later. Hope everyone is having a wonderful day. After the race I went to church then to brunch my day is not finish, I'm on my way out the door now.
PS. Just want every one to know that my race schedule is always listed. This would be my race results to the left. I just start from the bottom and work myself back up the list. These are the same races I've done for the 5yrs. Sometimes there may be one or two changes here or there but basically its the same. This is weak spot that's why I can't get my training on track for a BQ!! The day will come, if I want it bad enough and hold back on the races a few months, after all they'll be there next, now won't they?
Enjoy this gorgeous Day

Happy Mother's Day!
I'm so glad she brought you your number.. of ALL the people to not be counted - you should not be the one since you gave out all the bibs!
Hey Dawn you're awesome! So cool of you to volunteer at the same race that you ran. Wow! Talk about dedication to the sport. :)
Great way to celebrate Mother's Day for a runner. Nice time. Thanks for volunteering.
Sounds like a great race! Happy Mother's day!
Great race, Dawn! And congrats on volunteering--I'm sure it was much appreciated. I liked your story about forgetting your bib number. I did that one time at an XC race and my boyfriend managed to get it to me in time. Whew!
Of course it's telling that your sidebar with all those listed races is longer than the part of the blog that contains the latest entries.
Happy Mother's Day and great race, Dawn.
Happy belated Mother's Day! It's great that you can volunteer and race at the same time. Now trying to fit in a BQ with all those races is a bit more difficult but not impossible... Just use your races as tempo and faster running days and adjust the rest accordingly but not forgetting the long runs. Easy huh?
What a great Mother's Day, Dawn! I am glad you had a good race and your bib was returned to you. Gotta get counted.
Are you going to run the Mini 10K on June 9? I know, I know your schedule is listed but I am too lazy to read it.
I promise I am actually going to run this race, unlike the last two so I hope to see you there.
Happy Belated MOM's Day, Your such a SUPER MOJO MOM!!! Volunteer, & run the race, YOU Rock!
Congratulations, Dawn! I am not surprised that you forgot your race number after volunteering in the morning. It can get quite hectic.
